New Huda First Impressions

It has recently been my birthday (remember remember the 5th of November) and the husband treated me to some treats off my ever growing beauty list!! This years consisted of the New Huda obsessions palette in warm brown and the contour & strobe lip set in trophy wife/ shameless, which retail at £25.00 for obsessions palette and £29.00 for lip set from cult beauty (linked below).

Starting with the lip contour & strobe set, you are getting a full size lip pencil 1.20g/0.04oz in your chosen shade plus a mini liquid matte and lip strobe, the matte being 1.9ml and the strobe being 2.0ml all confided in a massive pair of lips (tin) that will also be of your chosen colour. Honestly this is by far one of the best ways i have seen a lip kit packaged, it’s very fun and I can promise you will be placing the tin over your mouth whilst trying to take a selfie.

Product wise my favourite part of the kit is the lip pencil, it has a nicely shaped point and is super soft making it really easy to apply. There is no need to use loads of pressure pushing down and dragging across your lips like with some firmer lip liners so you definitely save yourself a minor injury and a chaffed lips.

Surprisingly due to the light pressure applied you still gain strong lines and bold colour pay off, it glide on, does not chap or feel dry and is one of the best liners I have used.

Moving on to the Matte liquid lip and if you have never used Huda Beauty before one thing I can say is the smell of her lip products are amazing, I’d say its a vanilla/coconut smell that put me very much in mind of the jouer x jeffree star collaboration lip topper. It’s very sweet but not overpowering.

Once your done getting high off the scent it applies like a dream, the applicator is a lovely shape so you can get in to all the corners and due to the lips being lined it is impossible to mess it up. It dried down completely in about sixty-second so you have plenty of time to perfect your application. As with the liner the colour pay off is strong and you only have to dip once to gain enough for a full lip with no streaks. Once dried there is no sticky feel but it doesn’t over dry your lips.

The lip strobe has the same incredible smell as the liquid matte whilst giving you enough shine to really glam up your look. It applies well as with the liquid matte although you may need to re-dip the applicator to cover the whole lip. The look is very reflective and great for evenings out although it does need re applying throughout as the lips stay wet so eating and drinking cause collateral damage.

Is it worth £29.00? I do feel it is value for money when you consider the price of the Huda full size products, the items are a high quality and are lovely to use, plus if your a sucker for packaging (as I am) it is eye catching.

The other item I snapped up was the obsessions eye shadow palette in warm brown which includes nine shade, eight of them being matte and one shimmer/foil. It’s a little fold up palette with mirror included, perfect for nights out as it is small enough to keep in your make up bag or evening bag.

The colours themselves consist of one neutral cream that can be used as a base or eyebrow highlight, seven other warm shades ranging from browns, reds, oranges, and purple tones. The pise de resistance is the shimmered gold which takes centre stage in the palette layout (I have swatched the colours below which start from the top left corner of palette).

The formula is very creamy and blendable with a good pigmentation, there is little to no fall out with the matte shades and only a little extra with the gold which is to be expected due to the glitter. From the colours available you can create many warm toned looks and really sparkle them up with the gold making it great for the current festive season.

Considering the price of the palette and how small it is to look at I am really surprised by how much I have enjoyed using it, but the quality in the shadows is just there so it makes blending and achieving looks effortless. I like how compact it is, making it easy to travel with, I like the mirror and its size (plenty big enough to use whilst doing your eyes on the go) and I love love love the gold colour. Like with the lip kit if you compare the price of Huda full size palettes with the content of these you are getting value for money.

As always let me know your thoughts! How do you feel about the pricing? Are these on your Christmas wish list? Comment down below or on twitter @KateL564. Thank you for reading.
